TALLAHASSEE – Allison Sitte has been named Director of Legislative and Cabinet Affairs for the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs by FDVA Executive Director Danny Burgess. The agency operates a network of seven state veterans’ homes and provides statewide outreach to connect Florida’s more than 1.5 million veterans with their earned services, benefits and support.
“It has always been my dream to work with veterans and I’m honored to be joining the team at the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs,” said Sitte. “Coming from a family that emphasizes the importance of military service and honoring those who have served our country, I look forward to using my legislative experience and passion to help advocate for our state’s veterans and their families.”
Through legislative action, Florida is able to offer unique benefits such as in-state tuition rates for veterans and their families using the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, several layers of property tax exemptions, expanded veterans’ preference, and extensive benefits, licensure and fee waivers for many activities and occupations.
“Allison brings a wealth of experience from the Florida Senate President’s Office in vital liaison work between our legislature and key constituents throughout the Sunshine State,” said Burgess. “I’m impressed by her dedication and enthusiasm and look forward to working with her as we approach the opening of the 2019 Florida Legislative Session.”
