TALLAHASSEE – Roy Clark has been named Director of Legislative and Cabinet Affairs for the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs by FDVA Director Danny Burgess. The agency operates a network of seven state veterans’ homes and provides statewide outreach to connect Florida’s 1.5 million veterans and their earned services, benefits and support.
“As a retired Army Colonel, Roy Clark brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Following his distinguished military career, he established the legislative affairs office of the Florida Department of Military Affairs and years later worked for us in a similar capacity. We are delighted to have Colonel Clark back as our Director of Legislative and Cabinet Affairs,” said Burgess. “I look forward to working with him and having a successful 2020 Florida Legislative Session.”
Through legislative action, Florida is able to offer unique benefits such as in-state tuition rates for veterans and their families using the Post-9/11 GI Bill, several layers of property tax exemptions, expanded veteran’s preference, and extensive benefits, licensure and fee waivers for many activities and occupations.
“I am honored Executive Director Burgess has appointed me Director of Legislative and Cabinet Affairs,” said Roy Clark. “I look forward to working with Director Burgess and his team of dedicated veterans’ advocates, helping to ensure Florida remains the most veteran-friendly state in the nation.”
