Increasing Veterans’ access to health care
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s signing of the VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act of 2018 approaches, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is making significant strides in implementing major improvements to community care for veterans.
Beginning June 6, 2019, under the MISSION Act, veterans will have more ways to access health care. This includes within VA’s network and through approved non-VA medical providers in the community, called “community care providers.”
According to VA officials, if a certain type of health service isn’t provided by VA—you may be able to go to a non-VA provider, using your VA coverage.
