LARGO, Fla. – The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs announces that six Florida counties have submitted site selection submittal packages for a seventh state veterans’ nursing home. The announcement was made today during a meeting of the department’s Site Selection and Planning Committee in Largo. The committee will announce in the near future a schedule to visit the nominated sites.
Florida currently has state veterans’ nursing homes in Daytona Beach, Land O’ Lakes, Panama City, Pembroke Pines, Port Charlotte and St. Augustine. The department also operates a veterans’ assisted living facility in Lake City.
The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs, serving the nation’s third largest veterans’ population, celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2014.
