The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs has State Veterans’ Service Officers co-located with the VA Regional Office in Bay Pine, each VA Medical Center and many VA Outpatient Clinics. Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) for certain disabled Uniformed Service Retirees has been codified in law at section 1413a, Title 10, United States Code. The law was enacted December 2, 2002, by Section 636 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2003 (Public Law 107-314, December 2, 2002). CRSC provides compensation to certain retirees with combat-related disabilities that qualify under the criteria set forth in the law. 100% Disabled Veteran State ID Card
A disabled veteran ID card may be issued by the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs to any veteran who is a permanent resident of the state and is determined by the VA or Department of Defense to have a 100% serviceconnected, permanent and total disability rating. (FS 295.17) The card may be used as proof of eligibility for any state benefit except exemption of homestead property taxes. For information, call (727) 319-7440.
